5 Amino Acids You Should Try: 5-HTP, GABA, Glycine, Taurine and Tyrosine

1) 5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) - mood and sleep support

2) Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) - anxiety support

3) Glycine - sleep support

4) Taurine - muscle function support

5) Tyrosine - memory and mood support

The below information is from Powder City

5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) Defined

5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is a naturally occurring amino acid and precursor to serotonin, a principle neurotransmitter involved in enhancing mood. It is also a metabolic intermediate in the biosysnthesis of melatonin from L-Tryptophan. [1] 5-HTP is found in the seeds of the Griffonia simplicifolia herb, a climbing shrub native to Central and West Africa. [2] 5-HTP has pronounced effects because it crosses the blood barrier with ease. [8]

5 HTP Benefits

Mood

While 5-HTP and L-Tryptophan are both precursors to serotonin, L-Tryptophan is sometimes converted into niacin — whereas 5-HTP is capable of converting only to serotonin — which makes it a good supplement choice for enhancing mood. A study found that when combined with Carbidopa, 200mg of 5-HTP improved mood in 43.4% of subjects. [3]

Body Composition

Appetite suppression is another benefit of 5-HTP supplementation and along with diet and exercise can help in maintaining a healthy body composition.
One study found a 38% reduction in calories compared to the placebo. [6] Another study found that 2 weeks of 5-HTP supplementation decreased the amount of carbohydrates consumed, with 75% of calories reduced coming from carbohydrate reduction [7] .

Additional Benefits

When combined with GABA, 5-HTP can reduce the amount of time needed to fall asleep. 5-HTP increases serotonin levels, which in turn increases melatonin levels since melatonin is a metabolic product of serotonin. Melatonin is responsible for regulating the sleep cycle, so by this mechanism 5-HTP promotes sleep. [9]

5 HTP Dosage

The recommended dosage is 100mg twice daily.
Synonyms: 5-hydroxytryptophan

Curated Reviews

After taking 100 to 200mgs of 5 htp. I sleep astoundingly better. I used to wake 3 to 5 times a night and have a hard time falling back to sleep. Now I wake up once, or twice a night but I fall back asleep quickly. I remember my dreams now too! I feel much much better now. – Tom G
This site is top notch. The product is great, I definitely feel a mood boost after taking it a few days in a row. I like to take it at night, since it does make you a bit sleepy. I will go a few days off of it and still be pretty good. Great stuff, great site. I will most definitely order from them again. – Viv

Gaba Summary

GABA acts as a sort of natural tranquilizer that helps to reduce anxiety by impacting neurotransmitters in the Central Nervous System. It is produced in the body and used in the brain to regulate sleep patterns and nerve impulses. Because of this, GABA supplements can also be utilized to help those with various sleep disorders or those who simply experience poor sleep quality.
Supplements that contain GABA are similar to others such as benzodiazepines and barbiturates, however the sedative effects users report tend to be milder than these other medications. These supplements are commonly used by those who experience anxiety, depression, insomnia, and various forms of addiction to counteract the lower levels of the natural amino acid that are found in their systems.
GABA is also commonly referred to as Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid and 4-aminobutanoic acid. Some have had success when attempting to increase GABA naturally by using certain plants such as Kava, however this is only an option where such plants are legal.
GABA deficiency diseases are quite common, and therefore GABA supplements are becoming increasingly popular to counteract these low GABA level symptoms.

Benefits and Effects

Since GABA is a naturally occurring amino acid in the brain, it has many useful applications when used in the form of a supplement too.

Motion Sickness

Motion sickness is a common occurrence in those who undergo lengthy car rides, boat trips, or plane flights. Many users report the use of GABA to help alleviate these feelings of motion sickness when taken before these longer rides. These reports even come from those who typically tend to experience greater levels of severity in their motion sickness, which can often include chills and cold sweats.

Anxiety and Depression

Due to its ability to inhibit certain receptors in the brain, GABA can be a naturally calming substance. In times of increased anxiety or depression, the nerves in the brain are firing at heightened rates. This increase in activity is what most often results in these feelings of uncertainty, worry, and anxiety. By utilizing the supplement GABA, users can help reduce this activity by blocking nerve impulses and achieving and more relaxed state in comparison to their state of anxiety.

Immune Function

GABA can be integral when it comes to supplemental assistance in the immune system. As a neurotransmitter, it has the ability to either promote or halt the activity of Cytokines in certain immune cells. Cytokines are small proteins that can impact how the cells around them behave. This is especially important when it comes to the function of the immune system. They help to keep in check the balance between humoral and cell-based immune responses to bacterial threats. When Cytokines are off-balance, the immune system can suffer. With higher levels of GABA in their system, users tend to fight off getting sick with more success thanks in part to a stronger immune system.

High Blood Pressure

It has been proven that those who suffer from heightened anxiety and stress are also more prone to suffering from high blood pressure and other similar ailments such as poor circulation and general health in the cardiovascular system. By using supplemental GABA, those who suffer from high blood pressure have shown healthier circulation and lower blood pressure, making it a possible alternative to other more common blood pressure medications that might have other negative side effects.

Bodybuilding Benefits

Some users choose to use seek the GABA supplement for its bodybuilding benefits, which work by promoting the healthy production and release of immunofunctional GH and immunoreactive GH. Both of these natural substances are known to help in the process of building lean muscle.

How Gaba Works

GABA is known to moderate the activity between various transmitters within the brain that are associated with higher levels of anxiety, which can ultimately lead to panic attacks, headaches, and other forms of cognitive impairment when levels of GABA are extremely low. The absence of this substance within the brain can lead to these neurotransmitters having the ability to fire too easily, which then leads to these types of neurofunction.
GABA receptors are those that have been tied to the substance within the central nervous system. After they have bonded, the receptors are less likely to fire, which means that whatever signal they were going to send is blocked thanks to the GABA substance’s presence in the brain. The result of this in users who typically have lower levels of GABA naturally occurring in their system will usually be a calmer, more relaxed feeling.
Many find the results from low doses of GABA taken orally do not tend to have the desired effects, however.

Dosage

Many users find it necessary to ingest high doses of GABA on a daily basis in order to see the results they want from the substance. While the recommended GABA dosage will vary based on the individual, the average is between 3 and 5 grams taken daily.
The lower impact the supplement has on the system is due in part to the low absorption rate between the blood-brain barrier and GABA. Users can either take their 3 to 5 gram dosage in one go or they can divide it into smaller doses throughout the day to achieve the same results. However, either way, GABA should be taken without food.
With levels of GABA high in the system from these higher doses, users are more likely to see the calming and relaxing benefits of the supplement.

Side Effects

There are very few reported negative GABA effects associated with using the substance to achieve these results, which can be due in part to the fact that it is a naturally occurring chemical found in the brain.
Since it does function quite similarly to an antidepressant or an anxiety medication, which are designed to give the user more energy and motivation throughout the day, users of GABA can sometimes experience restlessness as well as the occasional elevated heart rate. This can also be accompanied by a tingling sensation throughout the course of the user’s body. However, even these side effects typically are short-lived and not much cause for concern to many.
There are certain drugs that can alter the way GABA works within the brain. These can include certain supplements designed to aid in experiencing quality sleep. This can also include certain tranquilizing medication. When these are being used, GABA supplements should not be taken, as the effects will more than likely be negated by these other drugs anyway.
Since there has been no significant research in regards to the effects GABA can have on pregnant women, the supplement should be avoided until after pregnancy to avoid any negative side effects that could potentially harm either the mother or the child.

Glycine Defined

Glycine is the smallest amino acid, yet has the largest range of functions, ranging from acting as a neurotransmitter to facilitating the production of muscle tissue in healthy individuals, supplementing with glycine exhibits nootropic properties, such as improved memory and attention, while also promoting overall health, such as maintaining the acid-base balance in the gut and acting as a cellular health supplement as well.*
The vast range of bodily functions makes glycine one of the most abundant amino acids in both the human body and dietary proteins alike. Consequently, fish, meat, soy, and even bananas are just a few of the many dietary sources of glycine. While readily available in the diet, research suggests that supplemental glycine provides optimal absorption. [5]

Glycine Benefits

Glycine Powder as a Nootropic

Nootropic qualities, including supplementation of memory, attention span, and cognition, have been exhibited with supplemental glycine.* [4,3]

Glycine for Sleep

Sleep deprivation inhibits cognitive abilities, whether it results in decreased memory, poor attention span, or just crankiness, compromised sleep is often crippling during the most inconvenient times. Glycine is particularly useful in times where a full night of sleep is difficult in two ways: It promotes sleep quality and energy levels when sleep is restricted.* [1,2]

Glycine Supplements for Athletic Performance

Glycine’s role as a cellular health supplement, alongside promoting a healthy digestive tract, make glycine a worthy supplement to anyone looking to improve their overall well-being.*
Creatine, the supplement known to promote athletic and physical development, is made thanks to the help of glycine. Glycine and L-Arginine are combined to form guanidinoacetate, which is then converted to creatine. Although glycine can be synthesized in the body, supplementing your body’s production may promote the production of creatine.*

Glycine Dosage

1-3g/day. All at once or divided throughout the day. If all at once, 30-60 min before sleep

What is Taurine?

Taurine is the most abundant free amino acid found in the body. As a protein building block, Taurine is unique in that it is able to perform a number of functions individually without being connected to other proteins [1]. Taurine is a non-essential amino acid and is found in foods such as meat, fish, and dairy products; however, supplementation provides superior levels of taurine.

Benefits of Taurine

Taurine plays a role in achieving and maintaining a healthy body composition [2]. It achieves this by digesting fat and absorbing fat soluble minerals. Taurine also regulates mineral balance, especially calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium.
Taurine is also a popular training aid for weight lifters and other athletes. It performs as a cell volumizer, drawing water into the muscles and leading to greater nutrient absorption. As the muscles become more hydrated, this also helps to prevent protein break down and enhances natural protein synthesis. As electrolyte transport increases, another positive effect is the delayed onset of any possible muscle cramping that would ordinarily occur during endurance training [3].
Taurine supplements can also benefit the mind and cognition. It increases the efficiency and output of neurotransmitters within the brain, boosting cognitive and mental activity. Taurine also acts as an agonist for GABA and other neurotransmitters found within the brain and nervous system. This directly stimulates relaxation and reduces anxiety. Additionally, taurine can help to reduce swelling and inflammation resulting from traumatic brain injury [4].
Taurine I also great for your eyes. As there are high amounts of this compound found in the retina, you can also improve and protect your eyesight. Retinal lesions and visual deterioration can be reversed through the use of Taurine. Additionally, evidence shows that it is capable of protecting against the effects of macular degeneration [1].

Taurine Dosage

The recommended taurine dosage is 500 and 2,000mg per day. This can be taken all at once or broken up into smaller administrations throughout the day.

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine: An Amino Acid

N-acetyl l-tyrosine (NALT) is a more soluble form of the amino acid l-tyrosine. This supplement is able to boost mood and promote relaxation.*

What is L-Tyrosine?

L-Tyrosine converts into L-DOPA, which can then become noradrenaline and dopamine. These two catecholamines play numerous roles in memory formation, positive mood, and more.[1] Many fitness enthusiasts use an l-tyrosine supplement as part of their pre-workout stack as well. This is because tyrosine supplement can combat fatigue from mental exertion, which can negatively affect physical performance.*[2]

Why N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine Supplement Capsules?

Measuring out an accurate dose of supplement powder every day quickly becomes tedious. This can lead to inaccurate dosing over time. For some, making supplement capsules is no less mind-numbing than measuring their supplements daily. Purchasing N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine supplement in pre-measured capsules saves you time and hassle while guaranteeing an accurate dose.

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine Benefits

The dopamine produced by NALT can then convert into noradrenaline, which is benefitial for memory formation.[3] This catecholamine also plays a role in boosting mood and improving feelings of well-being.[4]

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine Capsule Dosage

Individuals should take one NALT capsule per day. Each capsule contains 350mg of N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine.

ALPHA-GPC

Alpha-GPC (Alpha-glycerophosphocholine) Choline is vital for healthy live function and brain development. It aids in nerve signaling, maintenance of brain cell membranes and memory. Ultra Human uses this particular form of choline because it has been shown to be over 40% more bioavailable than any other Choline source. We do not use the cheaper, more common Choline Bitartrate form that many other companies use because it’s of lesser quality and poor bioavailability.

N-ACETYL TYROSINE

This is the more expensive and bioavailable form of Tyrosine. It crosses the blood-brain barrier and you need fewer milligrams making it efficient. It can assist in keeping natural dopamine levels up and optimizing neurotransmitter function leading to better mind-muscle connection for both mental drive and physical performance.

HUPERZINE-A

It’s a cognitive enhancer that inhibits an enzyme that degrades the ‘learning neurotransmitter’, Acetylcholine. Hence it slows the breakdown of choline, keeping the levels high. Correct Huperzine dosing is critical and we incorporate a very specific and proprietary amount of Huperzine that is effective to hit that sweet spot. Too low of a dose will not be effective, too high of  arose can lead to negative side effects and increased tolerance.

METHYL B-12

It is an essential vitamin for the proper functioning and development of the brain and the nerve cells. It plays an important role in the maintenance of the sheaths that cover and protect the nerves of the central and the peripheral nervous system, ensuring proper and faster nerve-impulse transmission. Ultra Human doesn’t use a standard B-12. We use MethylCobalamin which is not only the superior absorption form, but it also doesn’t use the lethal Cyanide chemical to produce it.

Advanced Molecular Labs Preworkout INTENSIFIES ENERGY AND MOTIVATION

From the manufacturer:

AML - PREWORKOUT - Fruit Punch
Stronger, faster, further— we are all looking for an edge in our training. That is why Advanced Molecular Labs has created the most advanced scientifically based product ever developed, based on the latest cutting-edge performance nutrition, research, ingredients and dosages that will completely PREPARE you for your next workout.
AML Preworkout contains a unique synergistic blend of scientifically researched compounds that will pack your muscle cells with energy and increase strength, power and endurance so you can push your body to the limit for longer periods of time. In addition, it activates the perfect blend of neurotransmitters to boost your mood, motivation, mental alertness and focus so that you get into the gym and start training with the utmost in tensity and resilience!
Here’s how it works, and why it’s the No. 1 performance enhancer:
INTENSIFIES ENERGY AND MOTIVATION.
A primary contributor to pre-workout fatigue is a weary central nervous system (CNS) that requires more than just energy from food to get you going. Fortunately, AML has discovered a unique blend of compounds that conquers CNS fatigue by reestablishing the required levels of the correct neurotransmitters to restore focus and motivation needed for intense training.
INCREASED DOPAMINE INCREASES DRIVE TO EXERCISE
Since reduced dopamine levels within the CNS decrease motivation and performance while inducingfatigue, novel ways to increase dopamine production before your workout should boost exercise performance. The consumption of the dopamine precursor tyrosine was recentlyshown to provide this benefit in a double-blind study, confirming that tyrosine consumption influences the ability to tolerate prolonged exercise, conceivably by increasing dopamine levels. AML Preworkout combines tyrosine with folic acid, which may further increase dopamine by increasing tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) levels. As a co-factor for tyrosine hydroxylase, BH4 facilitates the conversion of tyrosine to L-dopa, which is a precursor to dopamine.
The tropical plant mucuna pruriens is also found in AML Preworkout. This ingredient is loaded with the dopamine precursor L-dopa, which has been shown to effectively increase diminished dopamine levels in patients with Parkinson’s disease.
INCREASES ADRENALINE FOR AN EXTRA BOOST.
Adrenaline activates several biochemical pathways that increase glucose and fatty acid levels in the blood, which provides energy for the muscle cell. The remarkable ability of AML Preworkout to simultaneously increase adrenaline and dopamine provides an even more robust neurochemical environment in the brain for even greater mental focus that bolsters performance in the gym.
AN ENERGETIC BUZZ FROM CAFFEINE.
While increased contractile forces and energy production within muscle from caffeine consumption preferentially influence high-intensity weight training, caffeine’s ability to stimulate the CNS has a greater impact on the mental aspect of training. The surge of dopamine and adrenaline from caffeine consumption will amp-up your neurochemistry for greater concentration and intensity while training in the gym.
PIPERINE (BIOPERINE) PROVIDES ADDITIONAL ADRENALINE RELEASE.
Another neurotransmitter-enhancing compound found in AML Preworkout is the compound piperine, which is naturally found in black pepper. Piperine has been reported to trigger adrenaline release by activating the TRPV receptor in the brain, which stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, resulting in adrenaline release. It also improves the gastrointestinal absorption and systematic utilization of nutrients in AML Preworkout.
IMPROVES FLUID BALANCE IN THE MUSCLE FOR GREATER STRENGTH GAINS.
Natural osmolytes like betaine, found in many different foods such as whole grains, spinach and shellfish, maintain cell volume and fluid balance during stressful situations such as dehydration. Betaine also plays a key role in many aspects of human health, as studies have shown that diets high in betaine decrease the risk for certain diseases. In addition, it has been shown that betaine significantly increases anaerobic power in the bench press and squat. Interestingly, additional studies have also shown that betaine increased muscle protein synthesis and lean body mass.
ENHANCED BLOOD FLOW AND STAMINA.
The signaling molecule nitric oxide (NO) enhances performance by increasing blood flow caused by improved vasodilation. The increased blood flow from vasodilation delivers more essential nutrients and oxygen to laboring muscles while simultaneously removing metabolic waste, which collectively enhances muscular performance.
NO is biosynthesized from the amino acid arginine, meaning increased consumption of arginine ought to boost greater production of NO. However, arginine is poorly absorbed by the intestine and is quickly broken down by the liver, which reduces its capacity to increase NO production and making it a poor choice for increasing NO. On the other hand, the amino acid citrulline, which is quickly converted in the body into arginine, is more effectively absorbed by the intestines and avoids breakdown by the liver. Consequently, taking AML Preworkout, which contains citrulline (as citrulline-malate), represents a fantastic way to vigorously increase endogenous arginine levels and drive NO production for considerably improved stamina. AML Preworkout does not contain agmatine (Decarboxilated form of arginine), which may inhibit NO production.
ADDITIONAL NO BOOSTERS.
In addition to the potent NO-booster citrulline, AML Preworkout also possesses watermelon extract, beetroot extract, and grape skin extracts, which are rich in food anti-oxidant compounds that have also been shown to powerfully stimulate NO production for an added influence on vasodilation and performance enhancement. Plus it contains folic acid, which functions as a co-factor for the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase, which synthesizes BH4. Oral consumption of folic acid can improve NO production and vasodilation.
ENHANCED CIRCULATION WITH
POTASSIUM AND MAGNESIUM CITRATE.

Numerous studies have shown that higher potassium and magnesium intake reduces the risk of stroke and many other cardiovascular diseases, likely due to their capacity to increase vasodilation, which reduces blood pressure. Although it is not well understood how these two elements enhance vasodilation, the incorporation of these two elements into AML Preworkout fortifies its capacity to bolster cardiovascular performance for improved endurance. Potassium and magnesium has also been shown to prevent muscle cramps and improve energy metabolism. Citrate has also been shown to improve exercise performance by buffering lactic acid buildup in the muscle, further upgrading performance.
ERADICATES LACTIC ACID FOR  IMPROVED ENDURANCE.
The accumulation of ammonia reduces energy production while also increasing lactic acid production, which consequently has a negative influence on exercise performance. Citrulline reduces the accumulation of ammonia, subsequently reducing lactic acid accumulation as well. Furthermore, citrulline has been found to reduce lactic acid levels during high-intensity exercise and significantly improve exercise performance.
UNIQUE PERFORMANCE-ENHANCING
BLEND THAT AUGMENTS MUSCULAR
POWER.

AML Preworkout is loaded with an assortment of the most effective performance-enhancing compounds available for boosting power, strength and endurance, including creatine monohydrate, which is the most studied form of creatine on the market. In addition, creatine monohydrate is also one of the most heavily used supplements, primarily because its effectiveness at improving power and strength. Many studies over the years have clearly shown that creatine monohydrate supplementation increases power output during intenseexercise, stimulates muscle hypertrophy and drives muscle growth.
POWERS YOUR MUSCLES WITH ATP.
ATP is the primary energy source within the body, recent research has shown that oral supplementation also increases nitric oxide, increases blood flow, and boosts strength and muscular endurance.
GREATER MUSCLE GROWTH AND  RECOVERY.
Intense weightlifting or exercise puts stress on the muscle cell, producing muscle damage that requires a recovery process to regenerate muscle function and increase muscle size. There is emerging evidence to suggest that reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced during intense training assists the recovery process.  Moreover, it's been shown that consumption of the powerful antioxidant vitamin C, which chemically negates ROS  function, can attenuate the recovery of damaged muscle implying that antioxidants, in general, mitigate muscle repair and hypertrophy. For that reason, AML Preworkout does not contain compounds that principally function as antioxidants (such as vitamins C, E and the amino acids N-acetylcysteine and taurine), allowing for the sufficient natural generation of ROS from training for better muscle growth and recovery.
AML PREWORKOUT IS LEUCINE-FREE.
Leucine consumption during and after exercise promotes muscle growth. But taking leucine before exercise seems to diminish muscular performance by inhibiting conversion of glycogen to glucose within muscle cells, insulin-signaling, desensitization and insulin resistance. Also, leucine has the ability to competitively inhibit dopamine production by preventing the update of dopamine precursor tyrosine into the brain. This would cause CNS fatigue and ultimately hinder exercise performance. That’s why AML Preworkout is absolutely leucine free.

Nutricost Pre-Workout Complex - Great Ingredients at a Great Price - Men's and Women's Formulas

I haven’t tried this pre-workout yet, but I really like the formulation of this product.
The dosing of the ingredients is great. The women’s formula has some of the ingredients lowered which is understandable.

Below are the ingredients.

Citrulline
Citrulline is converted to arginine in the body. Taking citrulline increases nitric oxide levels better than taking arginine. Citrulline also removes ammonia from the body increasing endurance and delaying muscle fatigue.

According to Flex Magazine:
"Citrulline malate elevates muscle ATP by 35% during exercise and increases the rate of creatine phosphate resynthesis by 20%."

Take 3-6g of L-citrulline or citrulline malate 30-60 minutes before workouts

Arginine
This amino acid enhances has been used by bodybuilders for sometime now for nitric oxide (NO) production.

It is thought to improve blood flow to exercising muscles. Increasing the delivery of nutrients, hormones, and oxygen to aid in recovery.

The typical NO boosting dosage is 3-5g of arginine three times per day. Besure to take one dose 30-40 minutes before exercise.

Ornithine
Ornithine is an amino acid that serves as a precursor to arginine, leucine and glutamine. Ornithine increases nitric oxide production, energy, muscle recovery, and growth. In addition it's ability to help the body manage ammonia it blunts fatigue and muscle breakdown. Ornithine also supports immune function and fat burning.
Ornithine is often combined with arginine to boost growth hormone.

Taurine
Pulls fluid in the muscle expanding the tissue creating greater potential for growth. The second most abundant amino acid in muscle.

Betaine
Betaine is an amino acid (also called trimethylglycine) derived from beets. It aids joint and liver repair and liver protection.

Recent studies show that it boosts strength and power, increases growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels.

Betaine also increases the body's own production of creatine.

The recommended dosage 1,500-3,000mg with pre- and post-workout meals.

Agmatine
Agmatine is the by-product of the breakdown of the amino acid arginine. As with arginine, agmatine boosts nitric oxide (NO) levels. It also boosts the release of insulin an anabolic hormone that increases muscle growth and dilates blood vessels to further boost blood flow.

The suggested dosage is 500 - 1,000mg 30-60 minutes before workouts.

Tyrosine
L-Tyrosine is a precursor to several key adrenal hormones, norepinephrine and epinephrine, as well as dopamine, a neurotransmitter.* By increasing dopamine, L-Tyrosine may increase focus and mental alertness and offset fatigue during exercise which makes a great tool in a pre workout product.*

Theanine
Theanine has been shown in clinical research to work synergesticly with caffeine to boost brain function.

Caffeine
A stimulant and effective fat burner due to its ability to increase the release of fat from fat cells, caffeine has been shown to boost strength and power output when taken one hour before workouts.

For fat loss and weight management: 100-200mg between meals; mental acuity and focus: 50-200mg every couple of hours; strength and power: 200-400mg one hour before workouts

Norvaline
This derivative of the branched-chain amino acid valine has been shown to boost NO levels by more than 50% on its own. It works by inhibiting the enzyme arginase, which normally breaks down arginine in the body. Inhibition of this enzyme results in higher arginine levels, which can lead to higher NO levels.

Bioperine
Bioperine or Piperine is an active extract derived from black or long pepper.
It was developed to enhance nutrient absorption. Supplement companies typically add 5mg along with B6 to products to accomplish greater absorption increasing blood flow to the digestive tract.

Black Pepper is also one of the most available antioxidants. One teaspoon contains an ORAC value of 783.
